A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR FUNDERS

October 2021

Since the beginning of Wheel Meet Again, many moons ago, we have always run an IT/Job Club class. This class has really helped our members, who began with no IT skills at all, to navigate their way around the computer, learning how to send and receive emails, do job searches, compile C.V.’s using a word-processing programme and become members of the many social media platforms available. This has led some members into new careers, find old friends and on a very basic level-feel more confident in this ever-growing digital age.  Since restrictions from the Pandemic lifted – and we were able to open our doors again to our members – we have found that they are wanting to learn how they can do Zoom or Team Meetings, or how they can do online chats, as many of our everyday face-to-face contacts are now being conducted on computers, tablets, or smart phones. However, the laptops we had were out of date, slow or could no longer be updated. They would not support the software required to conduct these tasks so we appealed to the National Lottery Community Fund to see if they could help, and they could. We were able to purchase 12 Laptops, a photocopier, Microsoft Office, and MacAfee Security software. We also bought a TV so we could link up a laptop and demonstrate to the whole class how to complete these tasks. We wholeheartedly thank @TNLCommunityFund for their support but most importantly we would like to thank #NationalLottery Players.

It is with great joy that we are able to resume our “Wheel Meet Again” Project, with effect from 6th September 2021.  We would like send a very big thank you to Garfield Weston Foundation @WestonFdn for making this possible.  We can not wait to see all our members return.
